Marcella Elder

Marcella (French) Elder, 92, of Mt Auburn, IL., passed away at 8:35 A.M. on Sunday (05-26-2013) at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday (05-29-2013) at Berea Christian Church, Mt. Auburn, IL., with visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Berea Cemetery, Mt. Auburn, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home are handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to: Camp One Way, Mt. Auburn, IL., Mt. Auburn Food Bank, Carroll School, Lincoln, IL., or Donor's Choice. Marcella was born on January 1, 1921, in Latham, IL., the daughter of David Wilson and Bertha (Martin) Wilson. She married Milton French on March 17, 1940. He preceded her in death December 1966. She then married Cecil Elder on February 28, 1973. He preceded her in death February 1999. She was a long time 4-H leader and Sunday Bible School Teacher. Marcella was a member of Berea Christian Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of A.T.A. and Christian Women's Fellowship. She retired from J.C. Penney and Co. and was also an employee for the State of Illinois. She loved God, her family and friends. Marcella had many hobbies which included reading, music, sewing, decorating, oil painting, baking, and working in her yard. She is survived by her daughter: Chartha Swingle of Mt. Auburn, IL., son: Steven French and wife Pat of Lincoln, IL., five grandchildren: Stacy Gallick of Kansas City, KS., Lori Swingle of Bethlehem, PA., Gerald Swingle of Kansas City, KS., Aaron French and wife Carrie of St. Louis, MO., and Amanda Vaini and husband Nick of Lincoln, IL., four great-grandchildren: Adam Gallick, Sullivan French, Vivian French, Gavin Vaini, three goddaughters: Lynnea Armstrong, Connie Burgett, and Barbara French Dodge, and several nieces and nephews. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, three sisters: Doris Epley, Anna Goodburn, and Helena Potter. "
