Lynette Sue Eckhardt was born May 16, 1948 in Decatur, IL to her parents, Leonard W. and Edra Eileen (Kitchens) Eckhardt. She died on June 23, 2019 after battling Ovarian Cancer. Lynette was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Lana, her sibling-like cousin, Lee Eckhardt, who also bravely battled Lung Cancer alongside her until his death in November 2018 and her "second set of parents" Aunt Mildred and Uncle Johnie Auton. Surviving family members are her sister, Anita L. Eckhardt, her sibling-like cousins, Alice Wiley. Barbara Auton, Lynn Eckhardt and many other cousins. Lynette graduated from Millikin University in Decatur, IL in 1969. This was her father's proudest moment. She began working in 1969 at Illinois Power in Accounting. While at Illinois Power, she also worked in Finance, Budgets and participated in many special projects. Lynette was twice elected President of the Board of Soyland Access to Independent Living (SAIL). SAIL is a non-profit consumer controlled and consumer driven organization to promote and practice independent living for all people with disabilities. She was able to use her ability to speak to the deaf with her knowledge of ASL (American Sign Language). Lynette took an early retirement in 2000 to help take care of her ailing mother. Lynette was ordained as an Elder in the Ministry of The Church of God PKG (Preparing for the Kingdom of God) on February 27, 2010. She had served as Senior Elder over Illinois, Wisconsin, and parts of Indiana. A graveside service will be held for Lynette at Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery in Harristown, IL at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27th. Joe and Sarah Shockey from the Church of God PKG will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lynette's memory can be made to Church of God PKG, PO Box 14447, Cincinnati, OH 45250. Lynette wanted to give a special thanks to June Moutray, Paula Ferrell, Lee Eckhardt, Suzanne Montgomery and Alice Wiley for helping and strengthening her during her battle with cancer. Also, thanks to Dr. Esparaz and staff at the Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois. "
