Lula Mae Kater, 82, of Decatur, IL. died Friday, August 17, 2012, at 9:44 P.M. in Decatur, IL. Private family graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Burial will be in Macon Cemetery, Macon, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: American Diabetes Association or Donor's Choice. Arrangements are being handled by Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Lula Mae was born on September 2, 1929, in Otego Township, Fayette County, IL., the daughter of Ray and Bertha (Sickles) Guffey. She married Keith C. Kater on November 29, 1947 in Mayfied, KY. He preceded her in death. Lula loved to dance, camp, crotchet and sew. She is survived by her two daughters: Nancy King and husband David and Becky Heitz and husband Bill, both of Decatur, IL., one brother: Donald Guffey and wife Dorothy of Decatur, IL., 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-Paulette, granddaughter-Amanda, 3 sisters-Helen Creekmur, Dorothy Childress, and Pauline Morey, and 2 brothers-Roy Guffey and Lloyd Guffey.
