Louise Wickline, age 94, of Mt. Zion, died July 14, 2025 surrounded by her family.
Louise was born on October 19, 1930 the daughter of Dr. Raimer and Opal (White) Smith in Decatur. Louise graduated from Decatur High School in the class of 1948. She married Jack Wickline on December 15, 1950.
Louise graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s degree in education. She went on to earn her Masters degree. She taught language arts at Mt. Zion Junior High. After retirement, she spent many years volunteering her musical talent with her band, the Goldenaires, at nursing homes and senior activities. She also shared her musical gift playing the organ and piano at First Christian Church and Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. She played piano for many community and family events.
Louise and Jack traveled world-wide and visited all the continents except Antarctica. She was a member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.
Louise left behind her son, Phil and wife Mary Beth Wickline and daughter, Phyllis McFadden; four grandchildren: Ian (Kim) Wickline, Kristen (Sam) Borgmeyer, Ryan (Joanie) McFadden and Kevin McFadden; six great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Sharon (Dick) Lee.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials in Louise’s honor may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
