Louise Dial

Visitation: 1:00 PM on August 02, 2011 Funeral: 2:00 PM on August 02, 2011 Louise McDonald Dial, 89, of Decatur, Illinois died at 2:37 AM, Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 2, 2011at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church, or Cancer Care Specialist of Central IL. Louise was born, January 18, 1922, in Fayette County, Illinois, the daughter of Rollie McDonald and Nellie Sturgeon McDonald. She graduated from Brownstown High School in 1940, and from Eastern Illinois State College in 1950 with a B.S. in Education. Louise taught school in Fayette County at Seminary School in Vandalia, Illinois for two years, in St. Elmo, Illinois, for three years, and in Decatur Public Schools for 33 years, retiring from Garfield Elementary School in 1980 with 38 years of teaching. Louise married Hobert Dial, June 7, 1957. He preceded her in death on September 15,2004 Mrs. Dial was a member of Central Christian Church, a life member of the National Education Association, a member of the Decatur Education Association, the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, the Decatur Area Retired Teachers Association, Sigma Delta Pi , and the Garfield Luncheon Group. She did volunteer work at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Louise Dial was preceded in death by her parents, Rollie and Nellie McDonald, and her husband Hobe Dial. She gives special thanks to Dr. Keith Smith, and close friends Marilyn and David Kuehl, to Darlene Floyd, and to all her good friends and neighbors.
