Louis I. Sulwer, 78, of Oakley, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on July 17, 2025.
Graveside service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, July 21, 2025 at Macon County Memorial Park, 5700 W Main Street, Decatur, with military honors by the US Army and Cerro Gordo American Legion Post 117. A Celebration of Louis’ Life will be 1:00 – 3:00 PM, Monday at the Decatur Conference Center, 4191 US-36 in Decatur The family requests casual attire. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Louis’ honor may be made to a charity of your choice. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Decatur, is assisting the family.
Louis was born February 9, 1947 in Oakley, the son of George F. and Dorothy (Sutton) Sulwer. He married Carol Tipsword on April 8, 1972. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. Louis worked as a scale technician for Central Illinois Scale Co. for 41 years until his retirement. He enjoyed being outdoors working with his livestock. Louis also was an avid gardener and was always willing to pitch in and help his neighbors. He also enjoyed hunting.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Carol; son, Jason (Jen) Sulwer of Norton, OH; daughter, Tracy (David) Moore of Springfield; sister, Mary Ann (Ed) Lutes; sister-in-law, Shirley (Dave) Primeau; nephew, Christopher Primeau and niece, Lisa (Rory) Woods; and several other nieces and nephews.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, and 7 brothers and sisters.
