Lorena Vest

Lorena Mina Vest, 100, of Oreana, IL, passed away at 11 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Memorials may be made to the Oreana Library. Lorena was born August 19, 1911, in Cerro Gordo, IL, the daughter of Claude and Lora (Gaston) McKenny. She married Frank E. Vest in 1931, in Decatur. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1979. Lorena was a member of Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church. In later years she attended First Freewill Baptist Church in Decatur. She loved to read, and read over 500 large print books and lost count of regular print books. Lorena was a member of Home Extension, and the Oreana Cookie Club who met every Monday morning. Surviving are her daughters Virginia Griffin of Oreana, IL and Donna Shoraga and husband Lyle of Cerro Gordo, IL; grandchildren Rhonda Alverson and husband Bill of Bloomington, IL, Joy Pittman and husband David of Oreana, IL, Robert Shoraga and wife Julie of Normal, IL, Gary Griffin and wife June of Oreana, IL, Mark Shoraga and wife Jeanitta of Monticello, IL; 11 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
