Loran Eugene Miller, 90, of Decatur, IL, entered his heavenly home Thursday, October 13, 2011, at 6:20 a.m., at Decatur Memorial Hospital, with his family at his side. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Monday, October 17, 2011, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 3 to 5 P.M., Sunday, October 16, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. and one hour prior at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Tabernacle Baptist Church or DMH Hospice. Loran was born July 2, 1921, in Willow Hill, Illinois, the son of John F. and Nellie Marie Cohoon Miller. He married Athalene (Tollison) Faught on May 12, 1950 in Shelbyville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on August 18, 2010. Loran was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for 61 years. He was employed by Kroger Co. for 12 years; and the US Postal Service from 1955 - 1984, until his retirement. He is a member of Morrisonville Masonic Lodge #681, Springfield Consistory 32nd Degree, Ansar Shrine, Springfield, IL, Ansar Hospital Unit, Decatur Shrine Club, Zohak Grotto (Past Monarch) and the NARF. Loran was a U.S. Army and Air Corp veteran, serving in WWII. He is survived by his daughter Karon (Mrs. Jack) Lientz of Mt. Zion; Grandad to Lindsay (Monica) Lientz of Ft. Worth, TX, Jackie (Gary) Davis, and Kara (Heath) Grace of Mt. Zion; 7 great grandchildren Meredith, Alexis, Braden, Andrew, Kendall, Carson and Klaire; sister, Lois (Carl) King of Raymond, IL; and his special little dog "Sugar". He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, grandparents, brother-in-law Carl King, and niece Sharon King. The family offers a special thank you to the staff on 5100 at DMH and the DMH Hospice team. My Dad and our entire family were cared for and loved by each of you. He was a loving, generous, kind man that gave sacrificially to his family. He cared about his neighbors and those young children whom he came in contact with through his work with Shriners. He gave us an example of caring that comes from a Christ led life. Thank you, Daddy. "
