Lonnie Sayles

Lonnie Ray Sayles, 76, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2023.

Funeral service will be 11:30 AM, Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM, Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park with military rites by the Macon County Honor Guard. Lonnie was born September 10, 1946 in Decatur, the son of Earl Milton and Mary (Long) Sayles. He married Vickie Sue Merriman on November 19, 1967 in Decatur. She preceded him in death on April 9, 2015. Lonnie proudly served our country in the US Army. He worked as a structural draftsman at Mississippi Valley for 18 years then for Mississippi Valley Drafting for 25 years until his retirement. In his spare time, Lonnie enjoyed playing poker and was an accomplished saxophone player for over 40 years. He was a proud member of VFW Post 5224 in Decatur.

Surviving are his daughters: Dianna Cardwell of Frisco, TX, and Dana Sayles of Decatur; grandchildren: Garrett Sayles of Decatur, Claire Cardwell of Decatur, and Ian Cardwell of Orlando, FL; and sister, Linda (Rodney) Paine of Decatur.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vickie; and brother, Gary Sayles.
