Lois E. Steen

Lois Elaine (Baldwin) Steen passed away Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Mt. Zion Rehabilitation Center at the age of 90.

Lois was born on July 24, 1936, in Decatur, IL, to Everett and Minnie “Mim” (Robinson) Baldwin as the eldest of two daughters. Lois married W. Harold Steen on November 19, 1960, with whom she gave birth to three sons: Clark E. Steen, Michael W. Steen, and Ronald E. Steen.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, sister Mary, husband Harold, great-grandson Carson Myles, and her sons Clark and Michael.

Surviving are her son, Ron; grandchildren Brenda Steen, Bobby Steen, Jenny (Jeremy) Finch, Devan Steen, Marcus (Rachel) Steen, Lucas Steen, and CJ (JeAnette) Steen; and over 20 great-grandchildren.

Lois was a graduate of Decatur High School. She worked as a mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Cerro Gordo Masonic Temple for over 25 years with her husband. Lois loved cooking and baking. She loved craft projects and was often in the middle of something, be it crochet, knitting, sewing, or, in later years, cards. Countless friends, neighbors, and family members can recall receiving cards, gifts, and homemade sweets made by the hands of Lois Steen.

Lois was known to be one of a kind and filled with spunk and sass. She had a big heart for children, especially the ones in her own family. She was active as a sports and Scouts mom for her boys, concert and travel companion, caregiver, historian, and photographer.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2026, at Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Stop Solider Suicide.
