Lois Garriott

Lois M. Garriott, 79, of Argenta, IL, passed away at 4:18 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2011 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, 2827 N. Oakland Avenue, Decatur, IL. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, at Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Herrick, IL. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. Lois was born July 22, 1932 in Herrick, IL, the daughter of Wilford Raymond and Bertha Lucille (Rich) Black. She married Richard Garriott on September 26, 1952 in Taylorville, IL. Lois worked at Citizens National Bank and Mutual of Omaha, and was co-owner of Garriotts Antiques for 50 years. She was a lifetime member of PTA. Lois was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Lois is survived by her husband Richard of Argenta, IL; son David M. Garriott and wife Pamela of Argenta, IL; daughter Diane M. Whitehouse of Sterling, IL; brother Kenneth Black and wife Judy of Harrisburg, IL; and grandchildren Stephanie Garriott and Sophia Garriott of Argenta, IL, and Linda Whitehouse and Kate Whitehouse of Sterling, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents. Lois will be remembered for her love and commitment to her family and friends. Lois loved people and people loved her. She was a person who listened when you needed to talk, fed you when you were hungry and hugged you when you needed comfort. All who knew her, loved her.
