Lois E. Day, 88, of Cerro Gordo, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL. Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Memorials in Lois’s honor may be made to The Brethren Church of Cerro Gordo or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Lois was born on July 10, 1936, in Oakley Illinois, the daughter of Herbert C. and Linnie I. (Hiser) Lanter. She married the love of her life, Herschel W. Day on February 14, 1960, and they had celebrated 50 years together prior to his passing on April 29, 2010.
After graduating from Cerro Gordo High School in 1954, Lois lent her skills to many companies including American Farmers Insurance, Signal Depot, and as a seamstress for Cloth World. As a homemaker, Lois wore many different hats; she was a cake baker and decorator, a seamstress, a babysitter, a popcorn ball maker, Cub Scout leader, and organist for The Brethren Church of Cerro Gordo for many years.
Lois is survived by her children Mike (Jana) Day, Darrell (Sherri) Day, Ricky (Jennifer) Day, Deborah Greenwood (Ryan LeHew); grandchildren Amanda (Andrew) House, Michelle (Brad) Bauman, Joshua Day, Rebecca Day, Alex (Kristen) Day, Brady Greenwood, Devon Greenwood; step-grandsons Joel Wisely and Rob Wisely; and great-grandchildren: Ella Bauman and Tatum Bauman, Elizabeth House, and Mackenzie House.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents; husband Herschel; children Brian Keith and Sheila Kay; siblings: Glenn Irvin, Wallace, Loren, Curtis, Virginia, and Deloris.
