Lois Brown, 96, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Springfield and Decatur, died Monday, December 30, 2024, in Houston.
Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8, at the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be at Harristown Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown, the daughter of Forny and Orpha Parish, was born in Decatur on June 24, 1928.
The graduate of Warrensburg High School went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in home economics from Iowa State University. Following a brief teaching career, she married Donald R. Brown on December 19, 1953. The Browns settled in Springfield, where they resided for more than 30 years, and raised four children.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield. In her later years, the beloved wife, mother and devoted homemaker divided her time between the Midwest, Arizona and Texas, where she enjoyed traveling and loved spending time with her family, including five active grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her children: Melinda Brown of Houston, Tex.; Elaine Rosa (and husband James) of Daytona Beach, Fla.; Craig Brown of Mohave Valley, Ariz.; and Carolyn Mitchell (and husband Stan) of Katy, Tex.; five grandchildren, Erica McDu
