Lois Irene Anderson passed away on July 19, 2018 in Port Charlotte, FL after years of struggling with dementia. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. and the service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery. Lois was born to Clarence and Irene Barbel on November 28, 1929 in Aurora,IL. While attending Illinois Wesleyan University she met and married Gerald Anderson on September 4, 1948. He preceded her in death. Lois was a secretary at Dennis Elementary School for 21 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of local, state and national associations of Educational Office Personnel and was elected IL Office Employee of the year in 1985. Through the years Lois held numerous offices in all three associations - most notably President of the Decatur Association in 1976-77. She was a life member of PTA, a member of 1st United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, The Covenant Sunday school class, Lydia Circle, and both St Mary's and Decatur Memorial Hospital auxiliaries. She volunteered at Rock Springs Environmental Center, Garden Club of Decatur and Macon County Herb Guild. Lois initiated a chapter of the local Lois Club and thoroughly loved being involved with all the activities on Albany Place. An avid bridge enthusiast being a member of All States Club, Ladies Marathon bridge group, Continental Bridge Club, Old Bridge Club Girls of over 40 years and the G.G.'s (Gambling Gals). She shared her love of bridge with her partners, Janice, Jean, Barb and Lou. Lois is survived by two sons, Rick (Cathy) of Englewood, FL, Dr. Ronald (Laurie) of Mandeville, LA. Brother Richard Barbel of St. Petersburg, FL., Grandchildren, Travis, Jared, Mandy, Hilary, Megan, Christopher and Benjamin. Lois was blessed with 6 great grandchildren. Lois will be lovingly missed by family and friends. Memorials to Rock Springs Environmental Center. "
