Linda Sawyer, 83, of Cerro Gordo, IL, passed away Monday, February 27, 2023, at her residence, surrounded by her family.
Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL.
Linda was born May 26, 1939, in Ashmore, IL, the daughter of Leo and Averil (Miner) Sanderson. She married Leonard Gale Sawyer on June 8, 1957 in Charleston, IL.
Linda worked for Singer Sewing Company and later became Clerk for the Village of Cerro Gordo, where she served for 15 years until her retirement. She enjoyed crafting – including sewing, making sweatshirts and jewelry. Linda also enjoyed flowers and gardening.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gale; daughters, Julie (Chris) Malone, Jodi (Randy) Baker daughter-in-law, Mindy Sawyer, all of Cerro Gordo; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and sister, Carol Stewart.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, and son, Jeffrey Sawyer.
Linda’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mario Velasco and the nurses and staff of Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois for their expert and loving care.
