Linda Hedges

Linda L. Hedges, 63, of Athens, IL, died 5:53 A.M., with her son by her side, on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL. Visitation will be 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Butler Funeral Homes, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL, with a prayer service at 1:00 P.M. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to Cancer Care Specialists, Decatur, IL. Linda was born January 13, 1950, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Charles E. and Marjorie L. (Marshall) Scott. She was a union steward for AFSCME #2600 in Springfield and worked at the AIW Hall. Linda worked for Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, but most recently in the past several years, worked in Springfield for the Department of Child Support as a caseworker. She is survived by her son Scott Hedges and wife Melissa of Mt. Zion, IL; grandchildren Taylor Hedges, Katelynn Fischer, Samantha Fischer; brother Terry Scott and wife Mary Ann of Macon, IL; sister Theresa Morey and husband Charles "Mac" of Macon, IL; special cousin Sandra LeVeck of Lake Carlyle, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to give special thanks to Memorial Medical Center hospital staff and Dr. James Abraham for their care and compassion given to Linda. "
