Main, Decatur, on Wednesday, August 31 from 4-6 p.m. Leon Younker passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011 at his home after a long battle with cancer. Memorials may be made to Webster Cantrell Hall or American Cancer Society. Leon was born November 24, 1932, in Moweaqua, IL, the son of Virgil and Vera (O'Kelly) Younker. He served in the Korean War and retired from Caterpillar after 35 years of service. Surviving are his daughter Kathy (Bryan) Wesselink of Doha, Qatar; sons David Younker of Pottsboro, TX, Mark (Pam) Younker of Decatur, Rick Younker of Decatur, and Tony Younker of Houston, TX; sister Louise (Don) Boyer of Moweaqua, Betty (Edwin) Smiley of Bloomington, IL; brother Ralph (Marlene) Younker of Warrensburg; sister-in-law Marilyn Younker of Moweaqua; sister Pam (Steve) Shewmaker of Moweaqua; grandchildren Sarah and Nolan Wesselink, Dillon and Mark Younker, Mabel Younker, and Shelby Younker. Leon was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lois, and brother Bob. The family would like to thank the DMH Hospice program for their care and compassion and his personal nurses Janna and Diane for their devotion to our father. A special thank you to Kathy Gibson for her untiring devotion. Even without his voice he communicated his humor to all of us for six years. "
