Leon Moore

July 19, 1944 — July 18, 2024

Leon L. Moore, 79, of Niantic, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Funeral service will be 12:00 PM, Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Harristown Foursquare Church. Visitation will be 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials in Leon’s honor may be made to the family in care of Judith Moore.

Leon was born July 19, 1944 in Paris, the son of Leo Ray and Bessie Doris (Bridgewater) Moore. He married Judith A Zellers on May 29, 1963. Leon worked in construction and helped build the Clinton Power Plant and later worked at Firestone and Caterpillar. He is a member of Harristown Foursquare Church where he served as an usher.

Leon was very witty and was always joking around. He especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, and could often be seen pulling them in a wagon with his lawn tractor.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Judy; daughters: Tonina Moore of Illiopolis and Deborah (Joe) Breese of Indiana; grandchildren: Jacob Begolka, Amber Killian, Hayley Moore, Destiny Richey, Elecia Southern, Sydney Breese, Sammy Breese, Serenity Breese and Sheldon Breese; and great-grandchildren: Nathanial, Rosalie, Rayne, Allianna, Caleb, and Gabriella.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michelle Begolka; 3 sisters; and 1 brother.
