Dr. Leon F. Harres, 75, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be Thursday, March 12 at 1:00 p.m., in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton, IL. Leon was born March 20, 1939 in Columbia, Illinois, son of Edwin B. and Matilda Kleinschmidt Harres. He married Carol Ann Fehn on December 29, 1962 in Chicago. They were married for 52 years. Leon attended Southern Illinois University and graduated from the University of Illinois School of Dentistry in 1964. He was a Captain in the United States Air Force. Leon began his dental practice in Decatur in 1966 and retired after 37 years in 2003. He was a long time member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Leon is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Tracy Harres Kluge (Hank) of Jacksonville, Florida and Amanda Harres (Russ Strickland) of Kennesaw, Georgia; son, Matthew Harres of Decatur; grandchildren, Connor Doom, Avery Harres, and Mackenzie Kluge; and brother Virgil M. Harres (Kay) of Powder Springs, Georgia. Leon was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Dr. Gregory Totel, Dr. George Liu, and Dr. Venkat Minnaganti for their dedicated care given to Leon. "
