Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday (05-25-2010) at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home Decatur, IL., with visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Monday (05-24-2010) at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is assisting the family with the arrangements.Memorials may be made to: Meals on Wheels or Good Samaritan Inn.Leo was born on October 19, 1922 in St. Louis, MO., the son of John Brown Howard and Mildred (Rebenack) Howard. He married Nora Mae Landacre on July 1, 1948 in Decatur, IL. Leo was a member of Lampstand Presbyterian Church. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and the Korean War. Leo received the Bronze Star and also the Purple Heart for wounds received in the Korean War. He worked at Borg Warner for thirty two years, retiring in 1985. He is survived by his wife of sixty one years, Nora of Decatur, IL.; son: L. Joseph Joe Howard, Jr. and wife Judy of Springfield, IL., daughter: Lenore K. Howard of Chicago, IL., one grand-daughter: Sarah Smithson and husband Anthony of Boston, MA.Leo was preceded in death by his parents, one brother- James Howard and two sisters-Dorothy Klein and Margaret DePauli. "
