Larry D. Wade, 85, of Decatur, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 2, 2026.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 9:30am to 11:00am at Central Christian Church, Decatur with funeral service to follow at 11:00am. Memorials in Larry’s honor may be made to Central Christian Church, Decatur.
Larry was born on August 10, 1940 in Herrin, IL, the son of James Robert and Irene (Bailey) Wade. He married Karen Long on March 12, 1982 in Las Vegas, NV.
He worked as a music teacher at schools in Decatur and its other surrounding communities. He was a church music director and a local musician. Larry was a member of Central Christian Church, the Symphony Orchestra Guild of Decatur, the Old Time Music Preservation Association, Golden K Kiwanis Club, the Decatur YMCA, and he was a former member of Theater 7.
Larry is survived by his wife Karen Wade of Decatur; two sons, Harrison (wife Christine) Wade of Minneapolis, MN and Preston (wife Iliamar) Wade who is currently serving in the United States Air Force in Guam; two grandchildren, Lukas Cushing and Kristian Wade; and three siblings, Gary (wife Diana) Wade of Herrin, IL, Karen (husband Karl) Peters of California, and John Wade of Tupelo, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
