Larry Taylor, 79, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Hickory Point Christian Village with his wife by his side.Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 22, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. until service time. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Building Fund, 1 Bachrach Ct., Decatur, IL 62526 or Northeast Community Fund, 825 N. Water, Decatur, IL 62521. Larry was born January 7, 1939, in Decatur, IL, the son of Orval and Dorothy (Hood) Taylor. He married his high school sweatheart, Shirley Morenz in 1960.Larry was a Decatur High graduate, served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years, and earned a degree, B.S. in Education, at Eastern Illinois University. Larry was in the dairy business for over 50 years. He began his dairy career as a teenager, working for his father, delivering milk door to door. When the opportunity came, he purchased the family dairy, Sunshine Dairy. Later he sold the business to Prairie Farms & Co. and was the manager until his retirement in 2007.Larry enjoyed time and travel with his family and friends, collecting cars and trucks, and working in his yard.He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley; 3 sons, Douglas Taylor (Cathy) of Richards, TX, Jeffrey Taylor (Sonya) of Marana, AZ, and Jason Taylor (Kendra) of Decatur; 9 grandchildren, Zachary, Hannah, Skyler, Sierra, Sebastian, Spencer, Seth, Sianna, and Kennedy; brother, Joe (Linda) Taylor of Clinton; sisters, Myrna Kirchhoefer of Mt. Zion and Jan (Jim) Wilson of McMinnville, TN; a host of nieces and nephews.Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Bill Kirchhoefer and Fred (Butch) Morenz, and nephew Skip Morenz.The family wishes to extend this sincere appreciation to the nurses, support staff and therapy staff at Hickory Point Christian Village Center for the care and support given to Larry and his family.
