Larry Salefski

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. There will be no visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded.Memorials may be made to Heartland Lions Eye Bank, 404 Portland, Columbia, MO 65201.Larry was born March 27, 1942, in Decatur, the son of Walter and Erla (Collins) Salefski. He married Nancy Pelz on November 29, 1974 in Sandusky, OH.Larry graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1960, attended Millikin University and Gale Institute in Minneapolis, MN. Larry was retired from Air Caster Corp. and had previously worked for Blank Wesselink and Cook and Huss & Schlieper.Larry was an avid bowler and sports fan. He enjoyed rooting for his St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, and the Fighting Illini. He loved listening to all kinds of music and was a collector of Elvis and other music memorabilia.Larry is survived by his wife Nancy of Decatur; mother Erla Salefski of Decatur; son Shawn Salefski of Phoenix, AZ; mother-in-law Ruth Pelz of Sandusky, OH; brothers and sisters-in-law Ken and Mary Ann Pelz, Bill and Sarah Pelz of Sandusky, OH, Dale and Beth Pelz of Suwanee, GA; six nephews, one niece, for great nephews and three great nieces.Larry was preceded in death by his father.
