Larry Nuckolls

Larry E. Nuckolls, 86, of Decatur, IL, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 27, 2021, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with graveside services following at Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Larry was born December 13, 1934, in Illiopolis, IL. He married Shirley C. Fruchtl on February 25, 1961 and she preceded him in death on December 14, 2001. Larry was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1952 – 1956 during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Firestone after many years of service and later was an escort driver for “Wide Load” semi trailer trucks. Larry enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles, watching TV westerns, was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, and a faithful customer of The Garden Family Restaurant. He is survived by his son Ron Nuckolls and wife Emily Vance-Nuckolls of Decatur, daughter Pam Sanborn of Decatur, daughter Lori J. Searle of Springfield, son Chris Nuckolls of Danville; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, and several brothers.
