Lance Edward Gauble of Decatur, IL passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Lance was born on March 8, 1947 in Peoria, IL to Clifford and Eleanor Gauble. He met the love of his life in 8th grade, Becky (McGown), and they eventually married and celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in June, 2024.
Lance attended the University of Illinois, and graduated from McKendree University where he was a member of the Ferox fraternity where he made many lifelong friends. After college, Lance served his country in the US Army, and fought in the Vietnam war where he earned a bronze star and was honorably discharged.
Throughout his career, Lance worked as a CPA, financial advisor, CFO and auditor for the state of Illinois. Lance was also a longtime member of the Decatur Breakfast Sertoma Club, and the Decatur Area Arts Council’s board of directors.
Lance never knew a stranger, and knew how to throw a party. He loved to ski, play sports and rode motorcycles throughout most of his life. He had a passion for music and art and loved to share that with his family and friends. He also loved a good beer, a great steak and a Krekel’s root beer float.
In 2016 his life was forever changed when he heard these two words... CUBS WIN!!!!
Lance is preceeded in death by his parents, and brother Michael Gauble. He is survived by his wife, Becky, daughter Shani (Tronnie) Goss, and the light of his life, his grandson Alec Goss, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his 2 furry buddies, Earl & Moe.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
