CUSTOM DEATH NOTICELadorna Eleanor Deffenbaugh, 82, of Decatur passed away Saturday, August 22 at 10:40 a.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will held on Tuesday (August 25) at 10:00 A.M. at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be held at Hall Cemetery Blue Mound, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to D.M.H. Hospice.Ladorna was born on March 5, 1927 to James Francis Doherty and Ann Elsa Haller-Doherty in Buffalo, NY. During Ladornas childhood, her family (parents and sister, Janet Marie) lived in several cities including Indianapolis, IN. until Janet and Ladorna set out as young adults to live in Chicago,IL. During WWII, the availability of jobs in Central Illinois, prompted the sisters to move to Decatur, IL in 1944 where Ladorna met future husband George Wesley Deffenbaugh. George and Ladorna were married on November 8, 1946. They had three children: James Oath, Susan Pauline and Sally Ann. Ladorna and George enjoyed 40 years of marriage until George passed away on October 23, 1986.She worked as a secretary for the local I.B.E.W. #146 for several years. Ladorna was a Red Cross volunteer, a member of the V.F.W. Auxillary, and was one of the founders of Sons and Daughters of Ireland. Ladorna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, and sister Janet Willis. She leaves behind her daughters : Susan Allard (Dan)and Sally Petro of Decatur, IL; nine grandchildren : David Deffenbaugh and family of Houston, TX; Dawn Deffenbaugh and family of Bethany, IL; Dana Deffenbaugh of Houston, TX.; Cora Allard and fianc Ryan of Westminster, SC; Daniel Allard Jr.of Decatur, IL; Tiffany Ashby (Joseph) and family of Decatur, IL; Sarah Petro and Bo of Taylorville, IL; Chris Doty (Mark)and family of Mt. Zion, IL; Dannika Young and family of Decatur, IL and thirteen great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.The family would like to thank all their family and friends, the staff of Aspen Ridge Care Centre, D.M.H. staff and nurses and Hospice of Decatur for all their love and support.
