L. Susan Bleavins, 61, of Cerro Gordo, IL passed away at 6:25 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in her home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, at The Brethren Church of Cerro Gordo. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, November 25, at Brintlinger and Earl Cerro Gordo Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Lorraine "Susan" was born July 6, 1950 to Marian Lorraine (Hartman) and William Lutz Krigbaum III. With Susan's father being a Captain with the Army Rangers, the family moved to many Army bases state side and in Hawaii. After retirement, William Krigbaum opened a Phillip 66 station in Cerro Gordo, IL. Susan and her three siblings William (Bill), Karl and Amy all graduated from Cerro Gordo High School. Susan married James Norman Bleavins on May 3, 1975 and they had three children - Maribeth, Clayton and Jason. They made their home in Cerro Gordo where Susan was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, children's sports activities, scouting, bowling and tennis. In 1979, she became co-owner of the Parlour in Decatur with her life-long friend Vivian Estell. Susan was a hair dresser for 43 years, having worked with her friend and partner for most of those years. Susan loved to cross stitch and was a Master Gardner. If you ever had questions on planting or caring for your garden, she was there to help with your questions. Susan was a wonderful cook, mother, wife and friend to many. Susan was preceded in death by her parents and son Clayton Ross Bleavins. Surviving is her husband; daughter Marian Elizabeth (Maribeth) Pflum of Cerro Gordo; son Jason James (Hannah) Bleavins of Memphis, TN; brothers Bill (Tina) of Decatur and Karl; sister Amy of Decatur and eight nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Cerro Gordo High School Scholarship, Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois, Cerro Gordo Ambulance Service, or The Brethren Church of Cerro Gordo.
