Kenneth Wade Minton, 96, of Decatur, passed away Friday, August 16, 2024.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, August 29, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown. Memorials in Kenneth’s honor may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Unity Christian School (LSA).
Kenneth was born June 4, 1928, the son of Emery and Hildred (Wendland) Minton. He married Verna E. K. Roper on April 24, 1949, and were together for 55 years.
Kenneth worked for the Decatur Post Office for 41 years, retiring at age 55 in 1985. He also was a maintenance worker at Heinkel apartments.
Kenneth was a member of Illinois Postal Workers Union, Sons and Daughters of Ireland, and lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Kenneth especially enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his kids and grandkids ballgames, and in his younger years, enjoyed fishing. There wasn’t anything Kenneth couldn’t fix and enjoyed helping others with his talents when needed. Kenneth will be missed by his family and friends.
Kenneth is survived by his children: Dave Minton (Nancy), Kathy Wright (Rusty), Joyce Highley (John), Rick Minton (Pam), Jim Minton (Suzanne); grandchildren: Joel (Casey), Jason (Joanne), Andy, Chris, Sean (Steph), Christina (Michael), JJ (Ashley), Kurtis (Quincie), Emily (Danny), Ryan (Sam), Molly (Nick), and Drew (Taylor); and 17 great-grandchildren.
He joined in heaven his parents, wife Verna E. K. Minton, brother Donald Minton, and sister Juanita Griffeth.
