Kenneth Etter

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 3, 2010, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in La Place Cemetery, La Place, IL. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association.Kenneth was born October 13, 1930 in Sangamon County, IL, the son of Arthur O. and Gladys (Havener) Etter. In 1957 he married Joanne I. Metzger in La Place, IL. She preceded him in death in 1997.Kenneth was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and was an active greeter for 3 years. He graduated from Illiopolis High School in 1948 and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1951 - 1955. Kenneth was employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Co. for 26 years and AT&T for 10 years, before retiring. He was a member of Central Illinois Vintage Car Club, member of Golden K since 1997 and active in their fund raising events, member of American Legion and Telephone Company Pioneers.He is survived by his sons David L. Etter of Las Vegas, NV, Kevin L. (Sharon) Etter of North Aurora, IL; grandchildren David, Nicole, Matthew, Jeffrey; great grandchildren Vanessa, Damien, Ethan.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joanne, brother Robert and sister Betty.
