Kathy S. Vighi, 70, of Decatur, passed away peacefully at her home on January 19, 2024.
Funeral service will be 12:00 PM, Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 24, at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery. Memorials in Kathy’s honor may be made to the Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation.
Kathy was born June 26, 1953 in Decatur, the daughter of Clete and Ruth (Perry) Flanders. She married Paul “Bart” Vighi on May 24, 2003. He preceded her in death on October 8, 2004. Kathy worked for 40 years at Decatur Public Transit System, most recently as Safety Coordinator. She loved shopping, crocheting and horses. Kathy was happiest when she was with her kids and grandkids and thoroughly enjoyed attending all of her grandkids’ activities and sports. She also loved her Goldendoodles.
Surviving are her sons: Aaron Freeman (Leanne) of Ynysybwl, South Wales, Matthew Freeman (Shannon) of Nokomis, Zachary Freeman (Christina) of Moline, and Kyler Moore (Brittni) of Mt. Zion; grandchildren: Jackson Freeman, Owen Freeman, Braden Freeman, Adrienne Freeman, and Archie Moore; nieces: Tammy Schlueter and Debbie Flanders; nephew, Jeff Flanders; and her beloved Goldendoodles: Teddy and Tiny.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Vighi; and brother, Tom Flanders.
