Kathy Kay Bagley, 47, of Decatur, IL, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025, from complications of idiopathic chronic pancreatitis, surrounded by her loving children.
Visitation will be open to the public and held on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, 2827 N. Oakland Avenue, Decatur, IL 62526. The funeral service is closed for close family and friends and will take place immediately following the visitation, with a graveside service to follow.
Kathy was born December 15, 1977, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Catherine and Lloyd Reed. She was a loving mother, daughter, and grandmother (“GiGi”) to her cherished grandson, Nolan. Kathy worked as a paralegal for many years.
Her love language was giving and serving others; she was known for crocheting gifts for family, friends, and fellow pancreatic warriors. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her children and loving them fiercely. Kathy was incredibly proud of her son, Blake, especially for making her a mother and later a GiGi. Blake loved her famous “cheesy corn,” pigs in a blanket, and daily phone calls after work.
Affectionately known as “Momma Kathy” to many, she extended her love far beyond her own home. Her daughter, Breana, cherished every opportunity to serve alongside her mother and was proud to share her with the world as “Momma Illinois.” Kathy embraced this role wholeheartedly as she stood beside Breana throughout her journey as Miss Illinois 2024–2025 in the Miss America Organization.
Kathy is survived by her son, Blake William Bagley (29) of Decatur, IL; her daughter, Breana Kay Bagley (27) of Decatur, IL; her grandson, Nolan William Bagley (6 months); her parents, Lloyd and Catherine Reed of Decatur, IL; her sister, Mary Musgrave of Illiopolis, IL; her nieces; her nephews; and many close neighbors, friends and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by Harry William Barton and her beloved poodle, Penny Bagley.
