Kathryn Strong

Kathryn J. Strong, 91, of Decatur, IL, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015, at McKinley Court Care Center, Decatur, IL. A memorial service will be held at Moundford Free Methodist Church, Saturday May 2, at 11:00 a.m. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Moundford Free Methodist Church. Kathryn was born June 29, 1923 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Nelson and Mabel (Hinton) Corrington. She married Jack Strong in 1942. He preceded her in death in 2010. Kathryn was active in her church, a long time volunteer of the Lincoln Square Theatre, and puppetered in the family marionette show until the age of 83. She is survived by her sons Gary Strong of Decatur, IL, and David (Enid) Strong of Connifer, CO; granddaughters Lori (Chris) Torstrup of Fresland, PA, Diane (Todd) Knepler of Rome, GA, and Taryn Strong of Connifer, CO; great grandchildren Ariel Torstrup, Ivy Torstrup, Bruce Torstrup of Freeland, PA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Helen Deyton, and husband Jack.
