Katherine “Louise” (Dougherty) Smith, 92, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016, at Heritagespring Healthcare Center in West Chester, Ohio.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 2, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Decatur, with Father John Burnette officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to HSHS St. Mary’s Foundation or St. Patrick’s Church.Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is assisting the family.Louise was born on August 25, 1924, in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Francis M. and Katherine O’Brien Dougherty. She married Daniel D. Smith April 26, 1952, in St. Patrick’s Church in Decatur. He preceded her in death August 13, 1984.Louise graduated from St. Teresa High School, in Decatur, in 1942. She was employed as a secretary at A. E. Staley Mfg. Co. for 25 years. In retirement, she was an enthusiastic member of many organizations including the Kiwanianne Club of Decatur, Sons & Daughters of Ireland, Staley Retirees Club, Staley Women’s Club, and St. Teresa HS Class of ’42 Reunion Group. She was the past president of the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary and was a long-time member of St. Patrick’s Church.She is survived by her son, Daniel D. Smith, Jr. and wife, Cynthia, of St. Maarten, NA; daughter, Shawn Smith, and husband, Jonathan Weidlich, of Mason, OH; granddaughter, Kelley Faber, and husband, Andrew Faber of Zionsville, IN; granddaughter, Kaitlin Weidlich of Houston, TX; grandson, Dylan Weidlich, and wife Katherine Howard, of Lebanon, OH; great granddaughters, Alexis and Addison Faber, of Zionsville, IN. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, Jerry Manley, Maureen Carlson, Eileen Riffel, Kevin Manley, Peggy Sing, and Colleen Stratz, and many great nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Margaret Manley, and nephew, John Manley. "
