Karon Miller Lientz of Mt. Zion, IL passed away at 7:01pm Saturday, August 23rd. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 28 at 10am at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Decatur, IL. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 27th from 5-8pm at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL, and one hour prior at the church. Interment will take place immediately after at Mt. Zion Township Cementery, Mt. Zion, IL. Karon was born May 20th, 1944 in Stamford, TX, the only child of Owen and Athalene Faught (Miller). She and Athalene later moved to IL, where Karon had the opportunity to meet and introduce her adoptive father, Loran Miller, to Athalene. The three eventually moved to Decatur, where Karon spent the remainder of her life. She married Jack Lientz, son of Harley and Ruby Lientz, in 1966. Together, they raised three children: Lindsay Lientz, of Fort Worth, TX; Jackie Lientz Davis, of Mt. Zion, IL; and Kara Lientz Grace, also of Mt. Zion, IL. Karon was a long-time member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Decatur, IL, serving faithfully in the Women's Missionary Union and the adult choir, while impacting more than a generation of children through Sunday School leadership and Acteens, a teen girls missions organization. Karon poured her heart into organizations and individuals alike, standing firmly on the shoulders of those who preceded her in missions and faith-based activities. She actively supported public education in the Decatur Public Schools through room-parenting, PTA involvement, high school band booster activities, and serving meals to countless children daily. Karon was employed by Rambo Pharmacy, Decatur, IL; OptionCare, Decatur, IL; Decatur Public Schools, Decatur, IL; and Lamar Advertising, Forsyth, IL. She is preceded in death by her birth father Owen Faught, her mother Athalene Miller, her adoptive father Loran Miller, her father in-law Harley Lientz, and mother in-law Ruby Lientz. She is survived by her loving husband Jack Lientz, son Lindsay with wife Monica, and children Meredith and Andrew; daughter Jackie with husband Gary, and children Alexis, Braden, and Carson; and daughter Kara with husband Heath, and children Kendall, Klaire, and Karoline. Memorials may be given to the Lientz family for educational fund. "
