June Jeanette Wacker Jackson Shook, of Decatur, Illinois was born on June 18, 1930 in Ohio to Frederick J. Wacker and Helen Irene Solt Wacker. June died at age 88 on May 22, 2019 in Comfort, Texas. June is preceded in death by her husband Glenn William Jackson (Bill) and son Ronald Eugene Jackson (wife Vickie). She is also preceded in death by her 2nd husband, Haskell Shook (Duke). June’s sisters Jean Tomaszewski, Mary Ellen Eschen and Helen Carlson Wengert, and her brothers Neil, Eugene and Harold Wacker also preceded her in death. June is survived by her son Dennis Jackson (Jae); her daughter Cheryl Lehman ( Ron); her daughter-in-law Vickie Jackson (Ronald); and her grandsons Darren Jackson (Stephanie), Aaron Jackson, and Kurt Jackson. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Mikkala, Leigha, Ella, Kyla, Victoria, Joshua, and Aiden, as well as by her dog Tommy. June had lived in Decatur for many years. She was an LPN and worked at both St. Mary’s Hospital and Decatur Memorial Hospital. During her marriage to Bill, she also got the chance to live in Wales, Massachusetts, and Indiana. June loved to read – buying every fiction detective hardback as soon as it was released. She dearly loved her little dog Tommy. And, June was even privileged to visit the Great State of Texas with her daughter and Tommy before she died! The family would like to express deep gratitude to those who provided end-of-life services in Texas – Dr. Benjamin Stahl of Boerne, TX; Alamo Hospice staff of Boerne and Kerrville, TX; and Trinity Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Comfort, TX. Thanks to the hard work of these dedicated healthcare workers, June passed in peace and comfort. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2019 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation starting at noon until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur, IL.
