Josephine Delahunty

Mrs. Josephine Louise (Stork) Delahunty, 95, of Decatur, IL, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 11:57 a.m., at the Imboden Creek Living Center, surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church, officiated by the Rev. Father Joseph Molloy, with visitation one hour prior at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church. Louise was born December 14, 1918, in Stonington, Christian Co., IL, the seventh child of Frank and Mary Agnes (Fitzpatrick) Stork. Louise received her education in Decatur, living with her grandmother during the school year, attending St. Patrick's grade school and graduating in 1937 from Stephen Decatur High School. Louise then attended and graduated in 1940 from St. John's School of Nursing in Springfield, IL. After graduation and passing her state boards in 1941, Louise worked as a RN at St. Mary's Hospital, both full and part-time until her retirement in 1979. In 1978 she was honored as "Employee of the Year" for St. Mary's Hospital. Louise married James Arthur Delahunty on December 27, 1941 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Decatur. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1998. Louise loved gardening, playing bridge, Jeopardy, the Chicago Cubs and spending time with her family. Surviving are two sons and a daughter, James Francis and his wife Connie (Hoene) Delahunty of Mt. Zion, IL, Michael Conrad and wife Julie (Sederlund) Delahunty, of Decatur, Christine Louise and husband Harold (Harry) Nickles of Rochester, IL; granddaughters Amy Jo (Delahunty) and husband Jerry Wagoner, Jr. of Oakley, IL, Lindsey Christine (Delahunty) and husband James Hermann of Decatur; grandsons Joshua Conrad and wife Lindsay (Gist) Delahunty, Nicholas James and wife Sunni (Ammann) Delahunty, Patrick John (Roy) Delahunty and special friend Laurie LaPlant, all of Decatur and grandson Derek Michael and wife Amanda (Engelhart) Nickles of Rochester, IL; great grand daughters Mackenzie Jo and Cameron Jaye Wagoner of Oakley, IL; great grandsons Colby Joseph Gist and Carter Joshua Delahunty, Tyce William and Wyatt Frost Delahunty all of Decatur, great grandson and great granddaughter Colton Michael and Madelyn Grace Nickles of Rochester, IL. There are also many very special nieces and nephews. Louise was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter Mary Kathleen Delahunty who died February 25, 2009, her parents, three sisters and three brothers. Louise was an amazing wife, mother, aunt and friend to so many people and will be missed by all who knew her. We will miss you mom.
