Joseph Carl Hyde, 78, of Cerro Gordo, IL, passed away at 10:55 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, in Decatur Memorial Hospital, with his wife and family by his side. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Bement, IL. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at Brintlinger and Earl Cerro Gordo Funeral Home, with a prayer service following at 8:00 p.m. Entombment will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL, with military rites conducted by the Cerro Gordo American Legion Post 117. Memorials may be given to donor's choice of charities. Joseph was born May 23, 1936, in Princeton, IN, the son of Robert P. and Mary Francis (Kelle) Hyde. He married Lucina E. Davis on January 24, 1959, in Oakland City, IN, and enjoyed 56 years of marriage together. Joseph was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Bement, IL, Cerro Gordo American Legion Post 117, D.A.V. lifetime member, and Knights of Columbus 4th degree. Joseph was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He previously worked for Wagners Casting Company, Firestone, H&H Upholstery, and WAND TV. He also was a Decatur Airport Building Superintendent for 15 years and a security guard for Soy Capital Bank. Surviving are his wife, Lucina of Cerro Gordo, IL; sons: Patrick J. Hyde of Cerro Gordo, IL, Michael A. Hyde and wife Rolla of Argenta, IL; daughter: Theresa M. Mowry and husband Greg of Cerro Gordo, IL; grandchildren: Michael T. Hyde, Nicolas J. Hyde, Davis M. Hyde, Halli E. Hyde, Gabriel J. Hyde, Christian D. Mowry, Emily G. Mowry, Leah M. Hyde; brother: Thomas A. Hyde and wife Carol of Cerro Gordo, IL; and sister Barbara Holder of Odon, IN. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and brother Fred Hyde. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He had a unique sense of humor, full of knowledge and willing to share. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He loved with all his heart. "
