Joseph Thomas Copeland, 88, of Decatur, IL, died 1:57 a.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at his residence with his family by his side. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 15, 2013, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m., prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Memorials may be made to Donor's Choice. Joseph was born January 28, 1925, in Argenta, IL, the son of Frank and Charlotte (Gray) Copeland. He married Zola Landgrebe on May 24, 1947 in Decatur, IL. Mr. Copeland served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII in the South Pacific from 1943-1946. He was also a member of the Cerro Gordo American Legion. Joseph was a member of Cerro Gordo Church of the Brethren. He worked for Illinois Bell/AT&T for 35 years. Joseph was an antique car collector, especially 1929 models, enjoyed working on his grandchildren's cars and was a member of Central IL Vintage Car Club. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Zola of Decatur, IL; children Steve Copeland of Peoria, IL, Kristy Van Dolah and Marena Copeland, both of Decatur, IL; 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; sisters Jean Watson and Margie Judge of California. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters. "
