Jon Aschermann, 65, of Forsyth, passed away on May 18, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.
Memorial Gathering will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur.
Jon was born September 19, 1959 in Decatur, the son of Ernest and Cynthia (Newbould) Aschermann. The youngest of three siblings, he was lovingly called “The boy with three mothers”, thanks to the close bond he shared with his much older sisters. Jon made life fun for everyone around him – whether by hosting spirited gatherings, coaching his sons’ sports teams, or curating the perfect playlist for any occasion. He owned and operated 121 Fitness in Mt. Zion for over 20 years, combining his entrepreneurial spirit with a love of community. A true Illini fan, Jon rarely missed a game and delighted in sharing the experience with friends and family. He was sentimental, deeply reflective, and always ready to turn even the simplest day into something memorable. He found joy in cooking for his loved ones, sharing dramatic stories with his signature flair, and spoiling his beloved pug, Ernie. Most of all Jon treasured his sons and grandchildren, and his greatest happiness came from the time spent with them.
Surviving are his sons: Cole (Brea) Aschermann of Decatur, and Drew (Kady) Aschermann of Chicago; grandchildren: Isla and Reid; sister, Lynn Salrin (Bill) of Arthur; and his beloved Pug, Ernie.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judy Edmundson.
