John Trolia

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Decatur, Illinois with Fr. Don Wolford and Fr. Jeff Grant officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one-half hour prior to the Mass. Rite of Committal will be held privately in the Bement Township Cemetery in Bement, Illinois. John was born on January 7, 1923 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Maria Milano Trolia and John Dominick Trolia Sr. He graduated from St. Teresa High School in Decatur and attended Millikin University there before entering the United States Army in January of 1943. John served in England, Normandy and Northern France during World War II and was awarded two Bronze battle stars. John was honorably discharged from military service in February of 1946. John married Jean Vaughan on October 18, 1949 in Decatur. John worked for Homer L. Chastain, C. Bendsen Sign Company and at Wagner Castings as a facilities design engineer. John had served as president of both the Sangamon Valley Chapter of the Association for Facilities Engineers and the Italian American Society in Decatur. He was also a third and fourth degree member of the Decatur Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Sts. James and Patrick Catholic Church. John and his wife had lived in Decatur their entire life until moving to Glendive in April of 2008 to be close to their daughter. John was preceded in death by his wife Jean, by exactly one year.Survivors include one daughter, Carol Condon and her husband Tom of Glendive and one son, Robert Trolia of Bement, Illinois; two grandsons, Tommy Condon and Devon Trolia.Memorials are suggested to the Decatur Knights of Columbus Building Fund, P.O. Box 1303, Decatur, IL 62525. Silvernale Silha Funeral Home, Glendive, MT. and Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. have been entrusted with the arrangements."Thanks, Dad, for giving us a wonderful life.
