John Sweazy

John C. Sweazy, 90, of Decatur, IL, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Bethel Cemetery, Blue Mound, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, will be handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Decatur Gem & Mineral Club.John was born October 9, 1926 in Effingham, IL, the son of Clyde W. and Maude (Moekler) Sweazy. He married Beverly Byars on March 29, 1953 in Glendale, AZ. John worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 35 years as a machinist. He was Past President of Central Illinois Gem and Mineral Club and was a volunteer at DMH Thrift Shop. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beverly of Decatur; children Nancy (Don) Ballard of Burbank, OH, Peggy (Tom) Herrmann of Danville, IL, Janet (Rod) Wells of West Liberty, KY, John Robert (Brenda) Sweazy of Ocala, FL; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; brother Wilbur (Joyce) Sweazy of Decatur; sister Peg (Charlie) Faulkner of Neptune, New Jersey.He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and five sisters.
