John Smick

April 20, 1946 — January 15, 2025

John P. “Cubby” Smick, 78, of Moweaqua, IL, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025.

Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur is assisting the family with the arrangements.

John was born April 20, 1946, in Chicago, IL, the son of Charles and B. Aileen (Dipper) Smick. In 1972, he married Judy (Nalefski) Smick, and she remained by his side until his passing.

He served his country in the U.S. Marines. John worked as a clerk for the Illinois Secretary of State. He loved spending time with his family and will be dearly missed.

John is survived by his wife, Judy; son Jared Smick, sister Mary Kay Wetzel, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Priscilla Theriot, and brother Charley Smick.
