John Seitz

November 26, 1932 — September 16, 2015

John F. Seitz, 82, of LaPlace, IL, passed away at 6:58 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, at LaPlace United Methodist Church. Burial will be in LaPlace Cemetery, LaPlace, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Decatur, are assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorials may be made to: LaPlace United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society. John was born November 26, 1932, in Decatur, IL, the son of Leon D. and Anna May (Rhoderick) Seitz. He married Eleanor Katherine Williams on April 16, 1956. She preceded him in death. John was a member of LaPlace United Methodist Church, Cerro Gordo American Legion Post #117, Cerro Gordo Masonic Lodge #600, A.F.&A.M., and Juvae Jazz Society. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. John was retired from Don Morr Equipment, several car dealerships, and National Agriculture Statistics Service. He enjoyed walking at Hickory Point Mall, traveling, gospel music, and watching St. Louis Cardinals' baseball. Surviving are his son: Steven L. Seitz of Atwood, IL; daughters: Linda K. Seitz of Arlington, TX and Beth Ann (Bob) Armantrout of Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren: Charlotte Ryan (Mark Wenda) of Forsyth, IL, R.J. Armantrout (Kelcie) of Atlanta, GA, Shane (Jenni) Armantrout of Grand Junction, CO, and Aimee Armantrout of Grand Junction, Co; sister: Marian Cruse of Arlington, TX; brothers: Richard L. (Beverly) Seitz of Cerro Gordo, IL and Edward (Sherry) Seitz of Pataskala, OH; brother-in-law: Ray (Rose) Williams of Fairfield, IL; several nieces and nephews; and special friend: Nancy Causey of Decatur, IL. "
