John Christopher “Chris” Moser, 65, of New Douglas, Illinois, formerly of Decatur, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be arranged. Memorials may be made to Donate Life.
Chris was born February 24, 1961, in Decatur, the son of John F. and Katherine (Bradbury) Moser. He attended St. Teresa High School, graduating in 1979, and later studied at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. On June 5, 1982, he married the love of his life, Babette Thompson, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur.
Chris helped build One Source Equipment Rental in Decatur, serving as a founding owner and manager until his retirement in 2022. He found his happiest moments outdoors—hunting, fishing, and camping—and he also enjoyed tractors and traveling. More than anything, Chris was a family man who loved being with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren, and he will be remembered for the time he gave so freely to the people he loved.
Chris leaves behind his wife; two daughters, Stephanie (Bryce) Ellis of Troy, IL, and Casey (Andrew) Wegener of St. Charles, MO; four grandchildren, Camden Ellis, Cooper Ellis, Owen Wegener, and Violet Wegener; two brothers, Patrick (Sandy) Moser of Richmond, IL, and Joe (Joan) Moser of Venice, FL; four sisters, Debbie Moser of Venice, FL, Colleen (Phil) Durako of Springfield, IL, Kathy (Joe) Vyskocil of Deerfield, IL, and Sandy (Brian) Marquis of Decatur, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Simmons.
