John W. Morey, Sr., 90, of Decatur died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at his daughter's house surrounded by his daughters. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday (September 1, 2012) at Wheeler Cemetery, Decatur, IL., with visitation from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday (August 31, 2012) at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home are handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to: Cancer Care Specialists or Hemophilia Foundation. Mr. Morey was born April 6, 1922 at Clay Center, Kansas, the son of Lewis and Ethel Margaret Kirkendall Morey. He married Evelyn L. Wheeler, May 25, 1940 in St. Louis, MO. and she preceded him in death. Mr. Morey retired from A. E. Staley Mfg. Co. and was a WW II Army Veteran. Surviving him are three daughters: Ethel Crouch and friend Al Gonzalez of Lake Station, Indiana, Betty "B.J." Wade and friend Dave Plunkett and Dorothy "Dot" Janvrin and husband Gary both of Decatur, IL. Seven Grandchildren, Susan Maloney, Sandra Maslikowski, Sharon Rose, Matthew Radencic, Shelly Lowden-Polak, Annette Zaske, and Carissa Hayes; and several Great-grandchildren, and his adopted fourth daughter Carol L. Jones of Decatur, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son- John W. Morey, Jr., four sisters and two brothers. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Baumberger and staff, and a very special thank you to Dr. Esparaz and staff. Dad was so grateful that Dot and Gary took him back to his hometown of Clay Center, Kansas. He visited with cousins and nephews and reunited with a school mate and also a teacher who had just recently turned 100 years of age. We will always remember his caring, thoughtfulness way and his wonderful sense of humor. "
