John “Jack” Johnston, 85, of Warrensburg, passed away September 13, 2020 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Private family graveside services will be held at Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Decatur is assisting the family. Memorials in Jack’s honor may be made to Warrensburg Fire Department, 420 E Main St, Warrensburg, IL 62573. Jack was born August 10, 1935 in Decatur, the son of John Edward and Helen Maxine (Westerman) Johnston. He married Elizabeth Enzor on January 4, 1958 in Frisco City, Alabama. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2006. Jack proudly served our country in the US Air Force. After returning from the Air Force, he began farming and continued to enjoy farming and working with his son, David, until his death. He thoroughly enjoyed having breakfast and lunch with his friends and neighbors and discussing the issues of the day. Jack was well known to stir the crowd for a reaction and was described as a force to be reckoned with. He was very active in tractor pulling and ran the Decatur and Macon County Fair Tractor Pulls for over 30 years. Jack was a lifetime member of Warrensburg Sportsman’s Club and enjoyed dancing with Elizabeth, especially to Patsy Cline. He is survived by his children, Cheryl (Gary) Shedd of Rockton, John W. (Victoria) Johnston of Benecia, CA, and David W. (Jennifer) Johnston of Maroa; grandchildren, Kevin (Jenna) Shedd, Jennifer Shedd, Arabella Johnston and Alivia Johnston; great-grandson, Eliott Shedd; brothers, Gary (Joyce) Johnston, and Mike Johnston; and many nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth; and brother, Robert Johnston. "
