John Hackl

John “Jack” E. Hackl, 87, of Decatur, IL, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Liberty Village, Clinton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, February 5, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Monday, February 4, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials may be made to the Warrensburg Fire Department. Family requests casual attire. Jack was born June 4, 1931, in Springfield, IL, son of Robert Hackl Sr. and Margaret Gertrude (Mohr) Hackl. He married Barbara Burke February 13, 1952. She preceded him in death December 23, 2010. Jack was a member of First Brethren Church in Decatur. He was a wood pattern maker at Muellers in Decatur for 45 years. He coached Northwest baseball in Decatur for many years and kept the scorebook for basketball for Warrensburg. Jack and Barbara always planted a large vegetable garden, canned, and then shared with others. He loved fishing, woodworking, and most of all, his family. Jack always enjoyed attending activities of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren over the years. Surviving are his daughter: Ralonda (Larry) Cunningham of Maroa, IL; sons: Leland (Brenda) Hackl of Warrensburg, IL and Keith (Lisa) Hackl of Warrensburg, IL; grandchildren: Aaron (Jennifer) Cunningham, Kimberly (Brian) Miller, Brittany (Alan) Ferriell, Paul (Amy) Wood, Shannon (Justin) Richards, Jordan Hackl; step-granddaughters: Maddie and McKenna Peck; great grandchildren: Bryce, Brayden and Keeley Miller, Miles Cunningham, Hayli, Hanna, Hank, Haven Ferriell, Sean Hackl and Amelia Richards; brothers: Ronald (Phyllis) Hackl and Robert (Mary) Hackl Jr; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother Richard (Norma) Hackl The family would like to give special thanks to Liberty Village Manor Court in Clinton, IL. for all of their care and support.
