John W. Ellison, 67, of Decatur, IL, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL. Memorial visitation will be Tuesday, February 11, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Graveside services to follow at 12:30 p.m., at Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Legion Post 105. John was born October 7, 1952 in Decatur, IL, the son of Robert and Helen (Tapscott) Ellison. He married Toni Qualls on June 17, 1973 in Decatur. John worked at A.E. Staley for 20 years, Walmart East for 16 years, and most recently at Decatur Auto Auction. He enjoyed playing poker in the World Poker Tour, was an avid Cubs fan, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons. John proudly served our country for 20 years in the Army National Guard and was a member of American Legion Post 105 in Decatur. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Toni; son Brandon (Jessica) Ellison of Decatur; grandchildren Kolton and Klayton; brothers Tom (Jean) Ellison of Decatur, David (Kit ) Ellison of Decatur; sister Jane (Roy) Adams of Silver Springs, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Brian, daughter Christine, and brothers Robert and Michael Ellison. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Maibenco, Dr. Bommorito, and St. Mary’s ICU nurses and respiratory care, for all their care given to John.
