John Dirks

John Dirks, 59, of Moweaqua, died Sunday, March 17, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital. Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of John's life will be held at a later date. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home is assisting the family. John was born January 20, 1954, the son of Harvey John and Ruth Aileen (Engleman) Dirks. He married Carol Ryan May 5, 1979, in Nokomis. John retired from Caterpillar in 2006, after 33 years of service. He enjoyed the 5:00 meetings at the car lot with friends, and he always supported the Cubs through thick and thin. John had a big heart and everybody liked him. He is survived by his wife Carol of Moweaqua; sons, Justin C. Dirks of St. Louis, MO, and Kyle S. Dirks of Decatur; mother-in-law Janice Ryan of Moweaqua; sisters, Linda Waters and husband Bob of Sullivan, and Betty Rench and husband Dean of Nokomis; brother David Dirks and wife Linda of Nokomis. John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Chuck, and sister Cinda Reatherford. "
