John Beggs

John E. Beggs, Sr., 92, of Decatur, IL, passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 at Fair Havens Christian Home, Decatur, IL. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements. John was born October 15, 1926, in Mermet, IL, the son of Arthur M. and Clossie M. (Clutts) Beggs. He married Margaret R. Gard in January 1970 in Decatur, IL. She preceded him in death on December 23, 2001. John worked at Firestone Tire and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WWII. He is survived by his son John E. (Diane) Beggs, Jr.; daughter Debbie Carter, all of Decatur, IL; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Shirley Bridge of Decatur, Alice (Gene) Gilman of Phoenix, AZ, Lona (Bill) Stuckey of Decatur, Julia (Larry) Lanter of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret, brothers Leo, Arthur, Donald, sisters Dorothy and Jannatta.
